Bolivar New Gold Medal LCDH - 10 cigars
$699.00The Bolivar New Gold Medal LCDH is a 2023 La Casa Del Habano exclusive release. A Grand Corona of 6½” (165mm) by 48 ring gauge, and comes in a box of 10 cigars wrapped in gold foil. Sharing the same vitola as the Montecristo No.1 (Cervantes), the Bolivar Gold Medal was initially discontinued in 1992. However, it made a comeback in 2004 exclusively for La Casa Del Habano Germany, with only 1000 boxes produced. In 2007, it was re-released as a La Casa Del Habano exclusive but was later discontinued in 2011. In 2023, a new version was introduced—the New Gold Medal. While maintaining the same length as its predecessor, it now boasts a larger ring gauge, adopting the Partagas 15 vitola, similar to the Ramon Allones Imperiales. According to Habanos S.A., the Bolívar New Gold Medal is hailed as one of the finest Habanos in the current selection, renowned for its full flavor, strength, and body. This new release comes with a Seleccion Privada golden ribbon wrapped around the 10 cigars and a Limited Edition 2014 band around each cigar. It is reminiscent of the Partagas Serie D No.4, maybe a bit stronger than it; a true full body cigar. The tobacco used is from the Vuelta Abajo and is aged at least two years. It is a beautiful cigar, with a flawless construction, perfect draw and a sharp burn line throughout the whole cigar. There is a lot of wood, rich coffee and a beautiful floral quality to it. This cigar is one of the rare competitors of the Cuabas. From its odd dimensions, close to a Julieta (same gauge but slightly shorter), it seems to be of strong flavor, and it is. The Partagas Petit Coronas Especiales is a short and medium delicacy, of Mareva format, 42 ring gauge, 5.2” (132mm) long and comes in a box of 25 cigars. What used to be a machine made cigar until 2002 (slightly bigger in diameter), is now fully hand-rolled and it comes in between the Mille Fleur and the Petit Corona in term of classification. It packs lots of strength and flavor is relative short smoke (approx. 45 mins). There are the vigorous typical Partagas flavors, with lots of cedar, earth, salt, black coffee and some creamy notes as well. There is for sure lots of spice from pepper and cinnamon. Overall the cigar is a solid medium, which would pair beautifully with a smoky whiskey.
