El Rey del Mundo
El Rey del Mundo, "the king of the world", is believed to have been created in Havana in 1848 by Emilio Ohmstedt, who is also credited with Sancho Panza, though its early history is thinly documented. The brand reached the height of its prestige under Antonio Allones in the late 19th century, and in 1905 it passed to Diaz Hermanos y Cia.
