Established in the La Flor de Tabacas de Partagás (now renamed “Francisco Pérez Germán”) in Havana in 1845 by Don Jaime Partagás y Ravelo who already had a long history of manufacturing cigars thanks to its plantation located in the best parts of the Vuelta Abajo region, the premium tobacco growing area. Having earned several gold medals at several international exhibitions in the late 19th century, Partagás became increasingly popular. Upon the death of Don Jaime, the brand was transferred to Cifuentes y Cia, which continued growing the company until the nationalization of the factory, being the second most exported brand out of Cuba. There is also a Dominican Partagas cigar brand that was started after the Cuban revolution. However, the original brand is Cuban Partagas that is mentioned here.
Up until today, Partagás is still one of the best-selling Cuban brand, only behind Montecristo with the famous cigars such as the Partagás Serie D No.4, the Partagás Serie P No.2, the Partagás Mille Fleurs and the Partagás Serie E No.2. Partagás cigars are known to be powerful and with rich flavors, and thanks to its wide variety of sizes and shapes, there is surely one that will catch your attention.

The Partagas 8-9-8 is a rich and complex medium-full Lonsdale, 6.7” (170mm) long, of 43 ring gauge, and comes in a varnished cabinet of 10 cigars.This Partagas is named after the number of Habanos placed on each layer of the cabinet, there are 8 cigars on the top and bottom row and 9 in the middle one. This is a great cigar that is medium-to-full body, which will better suit a Cuban cigar aficionado rather than a newcomer to Habanos. Thanks to its almost perfect construction, it offers an amazing draw, and burns beautifully throughout the entire cigar, while a luxurious ash builds up at the foot. The 8-9-8 provides typical Partagas flavors, lots of charred aromas, musty earth, wood, cocoa, leather. These are strong flavors, as expected, mixed with some fruity notes, some nuts, some pepper, and some Asian spice. The Partagas Londres Finos is of Petit Corona format, 40 ring gauge and 5.1 inches (129mm) in length. Discontinued in 2002, it is an aged cigar presented in a dress box where each cigar is individually wrapped in cellophane. Being aged, it is a very creamy cigar, pretty strong and intense in flavors. Medium to full bodied cigar, it is a very rich cigar in terms of flavors. Lots of coffee, wood, spices and some delicious creamy and sweet flavors, almost like pastries. The construction of the cigar is also flawless, amazing draw from the first to the last third. And a beautiful look, the wrapper has a nice dark brown color, with an appealing woody smell.
