Presentation

The H Upmann Magnum 50 comes in a sliding lid box (SLB) of 25 cigars with Habanos Packing Code SLB-UW-GPSR-M-n-25

Dimensions:

Length: 160mm

Diameter: 19.84mm

Ring Gauge: 50

Shape:  Double Robusto

Appearance:

Sleek mahogany shiny wrapper. Tight bunch at the foot.

Smoking Notes:

Before lighting up

The foot of the cigar bears aromas of dark spices, wood, leather, and some natural sweetness.

Burn/ Draw

A slightly firm draw and a slightly wavy burning stick but corrects itself. Lots of smoke.

Initial third:

The first thirds greets you with some amazing flavors of wood, spices, espresso and toast. The cigar is complex and pleasant right from the start, and the aromas are well balanced, as every Habano out of H. Upmann brand. The burn line is nice and neat, the cigar produces a nice amount of smoke. This is a dense and elaborate cigar; this is why its strength is slightly over medium despite being full of aromas.

Middle third:

In the second third, the nice bouquet of flavors still goes on. The complexity and richness of the cigar make the smoke amazing. The coffee beans aroma comes to the foreground in the second third, and some nutty notes also appear alongside. There are some leather notes present in this third. The flavors of cedar and oak are still very present and the third ends on a spicy note and with toasty flavors.

Final third:

In the final third, the flavors register is in line with the second third. The cigar is extremely well constructed and balanced, so that all the flavors complete each other. The coffee aroma is still the most significant and wonderful; the flavors of leather, spices and nuts bring the whole cigar to fullness. The cigar is producing once again a very aromatic and generous smoke. The burn line corrects itself to be close to perfect. The Magnum 50 never gets too hot and is definitely a solid medium in strength. The finish is great.

In summary, a fantastic cigar! If you are looking for a great Cuban H. Upmann, and you are looking for a little bit thicker of a cigar, I would grab this smoke.

Smoking time:

90 - 120 Minutes

This is a great cigar, it is powerful but not overbearing if you are one to crave a medium bodied cigar.

I continuously order only this Cuban cigar after having tasted it first back in June 2012. I used to smoke the Eagle from Monte Open series and Hoyo Robustos but to my opinion this is superior.

This highly rated Habano gives testimony to the supremacy of Cuban cigars and their worldwide perception of superiority. This cigar also lends grandeur to the H. Upmann marque.

This unique line from Cuba is led by the H. Upmann Sir Winston (which may be the best cigar in the world), but is followed closely on its heels by the Magnum 50, overshadowed only by size.

Like all H. Upmanns, the taste is mild to medium, with a flavor profile that ranges from softly sophisticated to assertively vibrant. And that, my friends, is what makes all cigar smoking so wonderful, but what also carves out the known reputation for quality Habanos.

That is the intrinsic difference between a non-Cuban and a Cuban! The amplification of flavors which are more abundant and far more prevalent in Cuban cigars. With taste characteristics that can only be derived from these cigars and no others.

You simply CANNOT smoke a cigar from anywhere else in the world that tastes as good, or be as enjoyable as this cigar. Period.

If you have ever wanted to have THE BEST EXPERIENCE in smoking a cigar, and at a reasonable price, then do this cigar and I promise you won't be disappointed. (Oh Lord! Do I love this cigar!)

Aged Two Years , 8/27/2011

I received my order at the end of August 2011 and the box I received was from October 09. I was so pleasantly surprised that the cigars have had almost 2 years to rest before coming to my door and even with a 6 day trip in the mail they were an incredible smoke right out of the box. The Magnum 50 is great addition to H Upmann line and the size really compliments the Upmann blend. I highly recommend this cigar.
