Appearance:

The Cohiba Robustos Reserva Cosecha comes in a numbered black lacquered box, from 1 to 5,000. Each box is protected by a black velvet pouch placed in a black cardboard box. The whole box itself breathes luxury and elegance, pressing the button releases the latch. The combination of black lacquer and silver logos is visually very pleasing, in addition to the Cohiba logo in the middle of the box there is the silver Reserva Cosecha logo on the bottom right corner. The cigars themselves are beautiful, they have a nice chocolatey brown Colorado wrapper covered with a fair amount of oil. They are rolled to perfection, the triple cap is flawless and there are no soft spots at all. The cigars are well packed from the head to the foot. As this cigar is part of the Reserva Cosecha edition, there is an additional black band with the “Reserva Cosecha” words and logo in silver. The cigar would stand out from any humidor just by its look.

Smoking Notes:

Before lighting up

Off the wrapper there are some typical Cuban aromas, hay, wood, barnyard and coffee notes are the most noticeable.

Burn/ Draw

After a clean cut, the Cohiba Robusto Reserva Cosecha offers a great draw, with the right amount of resistance. Very smooth overall and the cigar lits up effortlessly.

Initial third:

The Cohiba Robusto Reserva Cosecha starts off on the strong side, right above the medium mark. When we get used to the strength, we can notice that the cigar is smoking beautifully, great draw which releases a thick and smooth smoke and it is giving us rich and dark flavors of cocoa and of coffee. There is also some sweetness which is slowly building up along the first third. The other flavors that we notice are the typical Cohiba flavors, plenty of wood, nuts, coffee and dark cocoa. The fact that the tobacco leafs used for this cigar have been aged for about 4 years give it more character and strength. It is a powerful cigar with round and balanced flavors. It is very satisfying so far. The construction is exceptional, no issues whatsoever with the draw or the burn and the ash is building up nicely at the foot.

Middle third:

In the middle section, the Cohiba Robusto Reserva Cosecha settles down somewhat and allows us to enjoy its amazing flavor profile. The most pronounced flavors are cedar, dark cocoa and still the same nuttiness. The construction is still spot on while strength keeps building up after the middle point of the cigar.

Final third:

In the final part of the cigar, the strength goes down slowly which permits us to enjoy the flavors even more. The nuttiness is still the most prominent while there the cedar receded a bit but there is ample sweetness on the palate. Up to the very end, the Cohiba Robusto Reserva Cosecha is very rich and rounded. An incredible smoke with typical Cuban flavors.

In summary: the Cohiba Robusto Reserva Cosecha is ready to smoke right out the box and will please even the most experienced Habanos aficionado.
