It is one of the latest additions by Habanos S.A. to the Romeo y Julieta brand. After the Short Churchill was released with great success in 2006, Romeo and Julieta modelled all their newer vitolas after this awesome cigar. The Don Alejandro gets its name after one of the most famous Cuban tobacco grower, Alejandro Robaina, which was working for the family business even before the revolution. Its amazing tobacco, growing in the Vuelta Abajo region, was many times honored by the Cuban government as Vegas Robaina was named best tobacco grower during the 1990’s. The Vegas Robaina Don Alejandro is of Prominente format, 49 ring gauge and 7.6 inches (194mm) in length and was launched in 1997 along with the brand other vitolas. It is a very beautiful cigar to start with; the wrapper is incredibly smooth and has a nice milk chocolate color. The cigar smoke starts off with lots of chocolate and creamy coffee. There is also some leather, some nuts, a bit of wood and vanilla. Some notes of cherries are also to be found. The cigar is very smooth, never too harsh, oscillating between a medium and a medium-full body. The construction is impeccable, flawless draw from the start to the finish, sharp burn line, slow burn and smokable until the nub. A great Double Corona. Más información

The Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No.1 is a rich and creamy Habano, of Corona Gorda size, 5.6”(143mm) long, of 46 ring gauge, and comes in a 15 cigars box. It is a cigar of the next to perfect construction; the wrapper is smooth and slightly oily. It is smoking beautifully and the draw on this cigar is flawless. On top of that, the flavor profile of this stogie is incredible. Definitely a must-try for all the fans of Corona Gorda vitolas. There are flavors of wood, earth, hay and nuts. There is also lots of creamy espresso, and some mineral notes. It might not be the most complex cigar, but it nevertheless won’t let you indifferent. Some delicate touches of pepper also spice up the Epicure No.1, whereas in terms of strength, it never goes over a medium body. Very similar to a Partagas or a Romeo y Julieta in term of appearance and flavor profile. It also has a great potential for ageing. Más información

The Cohiba Lanceros is a very elegant medium to full Cuban cigar, with 38 ring gauge, 7.6” (192mm) long and comes in 5 packs of 5 cigars. The price is not a deterrent for this beauty, thanks to its beautiful presentation in a varnished wooden box, and its perfect construction. The Cohiba Majestuosos 1966 is a massive Habanos, a 5.9” (150mm) by 58, released for Cohiba’s 50th anniversary and comes in a humidor of 20 cigars. Presented in 2016 to commemorate the legendary brand’s 50th year since its creation, the humidor is a work of art, only 1966 pieces have been made by Habanos. It is a sleek black humidor very elegant and reminiscent of the vintage simple humidors used at the time the brand was launched. It has a macassar ebony dark wood finish on the front and it is black lacquered on the top and bottom sides. The cigar itself is a totally new vitola, never used before by Habanos, which is called the Majestuoso and will surely appeal to aficionados of modern cigars, which tend to prefer medium-full cigars, with larger ring gauge and about 6 inches long. The Majestuoso is a master-piece of a cigar, perfectly hand rolled with an amazing blend of tobacco grown in the Vuelta Abajo region (D.O.P.). The Vegas Robaina Familiar, discontinued in 2012, is a powerful and complex Corona, 5.6” (129mm) long, of 42 ring gauge, and comes in a 25 cigars box. The flavor profile is very similar to the other vitolas from the Vegas Robaina line up. There is a lot of creaminess, smoothness, some straightforward tobacco, some wood and cedar, coffee and chocolate. There are also notes of sweetness, molasses, nuts, leather and throughout the whole cigar some spiciness. The flavors work very well altogether; the cigar has no rough edges. The Cuaba Tradicionales is where it all started for the Cuaba brand; this vitola inspired all their other vitolas. For this reason, it is as smooth as the other four formats and the same kind of wrapper and texture. For a tapered cigar, its size is right for providing the best draw and combustion. The Vegueros Mananitas is a medium bodied Habano of Petit Piramide format, with 46 ring gauge, 3.9” (100mm) long and comes in a tin box of 16 cigars. Vegueros is a regional brand, not found easily, and its classic vitolas have been discontinued in 2012 and replaced in 2013 by a line-up of 3 new cigars: the Mananitas, Tapados and Entretiempos. The Mananitas is a nice and short figurado, with a rather big ring gauge, a size that modern Cuban cigar aficionados are looking for. Delivering classic Cuban woody, earthy and spicy flavors in about 40 minutes smoke, this cigar is a great pick for a novice or for a try-out. Más información

The San Cristobal La Punta is a creamy and rich medium bodied Pyramid, 5.5” (140mm) long, of 52 ring gauge, and comes in a 25 cigars box. Launched by Habanos in 1999, it is hand rolled using only tobacco from the Vuelta Abajo region. It gets its name from one of the fortress of La Habana that used to defend the city during the Spanish Latin America Empire times. Despite its lack of fame, it is definitely a cigar that worth a try. Like other vitolas from the San Cristobal marca, La Punta cigar is pretty smooth, medium range in strength, overall very creamy and which develops a nice complexity of flavors along the whole smoke. There is plenty of leather, wood, barnyard, hay, nuts, toasty aromas, fruits notes, some chocolate, and some coffee. There is a delicious sweetness along the whole cigar too. In short, it is a very pleasant cigar that deserves more fame. Más información
