Cuban Cigars

The Saint Luis Rey Pura Vida is a 2020 Costa Rica Exclusive Regional Edition cigar, a 4.72” (120 mm) by 54 ring gauge, and comes in a box of 10 cigars. Only 6,000 boxes have been made in Cuba, so it is a cigar that will be hard to find very shortly. Similar in size as the previous Costa Rica and Nicaragua Regional Exclusive Habano in 2017 (the Ramon Allones Nuevo Mundo), it is of Magnum 54 vitola, a highly praised format in the region. Named Pura Vida after the popular local saying that is used to wish someone’s happiness at the end or at the beginning of a conversation. Entirely hand rolled with tobacco grown in the Vuelta Abajo region, this is a beautiful cigar, very comparable to the highly acclaimed and now discontinued Saint Luis Rey Serie A. The Pura Vida will certainly get even better after some aging, so do not miss your chance to get this little gem while available.

The Bolivar New Gold Medal LCDH is a 2023 La Casa Del Habano exclusive release. A Grand Corona of 6½” (165mm) by 48 ring gauge, and comes in a box of 10 cigars wrapped in gold foil. Sharing the same vitola as the Montecristo No.1 (Cervantes), the Bolivar Gold Medal was initially discontinued in 1992. However, it made a comeback in 2004 exclusively for La Casa Del Habano Germany, with only 1000 boxes produced. In 2007, it was re-released as a La Casa Del Habano exclusive but was later discontinued in 2011. In 2023, a new version was introduced—the New Gold Medal. While maintaining the same length as its predecessor, it now boasts a larger ring gauge, adopting the Partagas 15 vitola, similar to the Ramon Allones Imperiales. According to Habanos S.A., the Bolívar New Gold Medal is hailed as one of the finest Habanos in the current selection, renowned for its full flavor, strength, and body. Its distinctive earthy essence is a defining feature, complemented by spicy, fruity, and roasted tobacco notes. The amalgamation of these nuanced flavors has elevated it to the status of a new cult favorite among Habanos enthusiasts. Observations while smoking: Starts off light initially but gradually intensifies. Exhibits the robust strength characteristic of Bolivar cigars. Displays promising potential for aging.

The Bolivar Belicosos Finos is a delicious full-bodied Campana, 5.5” (140mm) long, of 52 ring gauge, and comes in sliding lid box of 25 cigars. After the Royal Corona and the Petit Corona, the Belicosos Finos is one of the most popular cigars out of Bolivar’s factory. It is mostly due to its medium size and shape, and the fact that its flavors are regular and stand out among other Habanos that it is a top seller. The Partagas Seleccion Privada 2014 is a rich medium-full bodied Double Robusto, 6.3” (160mm) long, of 50 ring gauge, and comes in a box of 10 cigars. This new release comes with a Seleccion Privada golden ribbon wrapped around the 10 cigars and a Limited Edition 2014 band around each cigar. It is reminiscent of the Partagas Serie D No.4, maybe a bit stronger than it; a true full body cigar. The tobacco used is from the Vuelta Abajo and is aged at least two years. It is a beautiful cigar, with a flawless construction, perfect draw and a sharp burn line throughout the whole cigar. There is a lot of wood, rich coffee and a beautiful floral quality to it. There are also hints of pepper, leather, oak, cocoa and some nice fruity cake flavor. A truly delicious creamy smoke, which will become even better after 3 to 5 years of ageing. En savoir plus

The Partagas Presidentes is a beautiful and strong figurado, of Taco format, 47 ring gauge, 6.2” (158mm) long and comes in a box of 25 cigars. This figurado from Partagas is not very well known. This cigar is one of the rare competitors of the Cuabas. From its odd dimensions, close to a Julieta (same gauge but slightly shorter), it seems to be of strong flavor, and it is. It evolves on an earthy and woody register. It is nevertheless a bit smoother than a Julieta. The final is short. En savoir plus

The Bolivar Tubos No.2 is a creamy Habanos of Petit Corona format, 42 ring gauge, 5.1” (129mm) in length and comes in aluminum tubes in a box of 25. It is one of the most powerful and aromatic among the Habanos. Being a rather short cigar, it can be enjoyed when the time is of the essence. Its production started as early as in the beginning of the 20th century. This vitola honors the historical powerful figure it is named after, as it delivers rich aromas of tobacco, which would surely delight the cigar aficionado.
