The Vegas Robaina Don Alejandro is a flavorful and creamy medium-full Double Corona, 7.6” (194mm) long, of 49 ring gauge, and comes in a 15 cigars box. The Don Alejandro gets its name after one of the most famous Cuban tobacco grower, Alejandro Robaina, which was working for the family business even before the revolution. Its amazing tobacco, growing in the Vuelta Abajo region, was many times honored by the Cuban government as Vegas Robaina was named best tobacco grower during the 1990’s. Launched in 1997 along with the brand other vitolas, it is a very beautiful cigar to start with; the wrapper is incredibly smooth and has a nice milk chocolate color. The cigar smoke starts off with lots of chocolate and creamy coffee. There is also some leather, some nuts, a bit of wood and vanilla. Some notes of cherries are also to be found. The cigar is very smooth, never too harsh, oscillating between a medium and a medium-full body. The construction is impeccable, flawless draw from the start to the finish, sharp burn line, slow burn and smokable until the nub. A great Double Corona. En savoir plus

The Romeo y Julieta Linea de Oro Hidalgos, part of the new top tier segment of the brand, is a delicious Robusto, which comes in a box of 20 cigars. The “Linea de Oro”, literally the “golden line” in Spanish is the pendant of the Maduro 5 line for the Cohiba, the top of the crop among the Romeo y Julieta brand, launched to celebrate the brand's 145th anniversary. Habanos released three totally new cigars, which are among the biggest ring gauge cigars available among Habanos, the Hidalgos, the Nobles and Dianas. The Hidalgos vitola (also called Hidalgos), is 57 ring gauge by 4 ⅞ inches and, as the other two, comes in a refined high lacquered box of 20 cigars. One can right away see that these cigars are different from the regular production line, as the box is painted in a very elegant red and gold colors, adorned with an embossed golden medallion on the lid, representing the classic balcony scene. Each cigar comes with a specific Linea de Oro band with the name of the cigar as well as a secondary golden band at the foot. The Hidalgos, Nobles and Dianas are all stronger than the regular Romeo y Julieta cigars, their strength around medium to full. Machine made and wrapped in cellophane until 2002, this cigar is now handmade and can be compared to a H Upmann Epicures, in terms of size or strength level. It has the typical Romeo y Julieta flavors, perhaps a bit harsher than the usual cigar from the brand, but it is never too strong.
