The “Linea de Oro”, literally the “golden line” in Spanish is the pendant of the Maduro 5 line for the Cohiba, the top of the crop among the Romeo y Julieta brand, launched to celebrate the brand's 145th anniversary. Habanos released three totally new cigars, which are among the biggest ring gauge cigars available among Habanos, the Hidalgos, the Nobles and Dianas. The Hidalgos vitola (also called Hidalgos), is 57 ring gauge by 4 ⅞ inches and, as the other two, comes in a refined high lacquered box of 20 cigars. One can right away see that these cigars are different from the regular production line, as the box is painted in a very elegant red and gold colors, adorned with an embossed golden medallion on the lid, representing the classic balcony scene. Each cigar comes with a specific Linea de Oro band with the name of the cigar as well as a secondary golden band at the foot. Released in 2020, the Ramon Allones No.2 is a 2019 Edición Limitada, an elegant 5.5” (140mm) by 52 ring gauge, and comes in a luxury box of 10 cigars. Revealed at the XXI Festival del Habano in 2019, among the Montecristo Supremos and Quai d’Orsay Senadores, it was only released virtually in late 2020 for some selected guests. The guests had each received an individual gift bag including the cigar, a mini bottle of cognac, a cognac glass and three selected chocolates, which would beautifully pair with the Ramon Allones No.2. The cigars have all been hand rolled with tobacco leaves which have been aged for 2 to 5 years, instead of being rolled with regular tobacco leaves and then aged in their boxes, which gave more time to the flavors No.2 to develop and get richer. The flavors are typical Ramon Allones, reminiscent of the Specially Selected but with some nutiness and more sweetness than the regular production cigar. It is also more powerful than the Specially Selected, a medium to full body cigar and full flavored. The vitola used for the Ramon Allones No.2 is the Campanas, similar to the acclaimed Bolivar Belicosos Finos, which was used only once before for a Ramon Allones when they released the Ramon Allones Belicosos Finos exclusively for the UK market in 2005. Once released in stores, the Ramon Allones No.2 comes in a beautiful green lacquered box with a raised top, which is very different visually from other Edición Limitadas or any other Habanos releases and would magnificently complement the aficionado’s humidor. As many Edición Limitada, the No.2 will surely become a future classic in the next 2 to 5 years, try one out and you will know why. The Bolivar New Gold Medal LCDH is a 2023 La Casa Del Habano exclusive release. A Grand Corona of 6½” (165mm) by 48 ring gauge, and comes in a box of 10 cigars wrapped in gold foil. Sharing the same vitola as the Montecristo No.1 (Cervantes), the Bolivar Gold Medal was initially discontinued in 1992. However, it made a comeback in 2004 exclusively for La Casa Del Habano Germany, with only 1000 boxes produced. In 2007, it was re-released as a La Casa Del Habano exclusive but was later discontinued in 2011. In 2023, a new version was introduced—the New Gold Medal. While maintaining the same length as its predecessor, it now boasts a larger ring gauge, adopting the Partagas 15 vitola, similar to the Ramon Allones Imperiales. According to Habanos S.A., the Bolívar New Gold Medal is hailed as one of the finest Habanos in the current selection, renowned for its full flavor, strength, and body. Its distinctive earthy essence is a defining feature, complemented by spicy, fruity, and roasted tobacco notes. The amalgamation of these nuanced flavors has elevated it to the status of a new cult favorite among Habanos enthusiasts. Observations while smoking: Starts off light initially but gradually intensifies. Exhibits the robust strength characteristic of Bolivar cigars. Displays promising potential for aging.

The Cohiba Majestuosos 1966 is a massive Habanos, a 5.9” (150mm) by 58, released for Cohiba’s 50th anniversary and comes in a humidor of 20 cigars. Presented in 2016 to commemorate the legendary brand’s 50th year since its creation, the humidor is a work of art, only 1966 pieces have been made by Habanos. It is a sleek black humidor very elegant and reminiscent of the vintage simple humidors used at the time the brand was launched. It has a macassar ebony dark wood finish on the front and it is black lacquered on the top and bottom sides. The cigar itself is a totally new vitola, never used before by Habanos, which is called the Majestuoso and will surely appeal to aficionados of modern cigars, which tend to prefer medium-full cigars, with larger ring gauge and about 6 inches long. The Majestuoso is a master-piece of a cigar, perfectly hand rolled with an amazing blend of tobacco grown in the Vuelta Abajo region (D.O.P.). The San Cristóbal de La Habana 20 Aniversario, a La Casa del Habano exclusive release, is 6.3” (162mm) by 52 ring gauge, and comes in a humidor of 20 cigars. Its official vitola name is the Capuleto, of Double Robusto size, only used once before by Hababanos with the Romeo y Julieta De Luxe Edición Limitada of 2013. First announced in 2019 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the brand launched in 1999, the San Cristobal de La Habana 20 Aniversario only hit the shelves in late 2020, and is sold exclusively in La Casa del Habanos stores around the world. This is the third LCDH exclusive release from San Cristóbal, after the Mercaderes and the Murallas released in the mid 00’s and now discontinued. Habanos really stepped up their presentation with these cigars, as they come in a beautiful pirate’s treasure chest shaped humidor, with a mix of light and dark woods. The cigars themselves are looking amazing, massive in size but tightly packed and virtually flawless. In addition to the usual San Cristóbal band, there is also a second band, reserved to the “La Casa del Habano” exclusive cigars. The Cohiba Behike BHK 54 is the ultimate Laguito No.1, a rich and beautiful Habano, of 54 ring gauge, 5.7” (144mm) long and comes in a box of 10 cigars. It has been released in 2010 and is part of the Behike series, which is Cohiba most exclusive brand. The price should not be a deterrent at this point as this is a very unique cigar that will go along any special occasion. It is an amazing enjoyment to smoke this terrific cigar to the nub. For the first time in Cohiba history, the very rare Medio Tiempo leaf is rolled, among others, in the filler. The Medio Tiempo consists of the top two leaves that grow on some sun-grown tobacco plants. This gives a very unique taste and strength to the cigar. There are also some of the finest, already aged, tobacco leaves coming from the Vuelta Abajo region. The Behike line consists of three cigars named after their ring gauges, BHK 52, BHK 54 and BHK 56, which are also getting different in size (119mm for the BHK 52, 144mm for the BHK 54 and 166mm for the BHK 56). One can see the exclusivity and luxury just by the look and feel of the sleek black box coming with the cigars, which has a nice fabric underside and a magnet latch.
