The Hoyo de San Juan from Hoyo de Monterrey is a tasty medium-bodied geniales, with 54 ring gauge and 5.9” (150mm) long and comes in a box of 25 cigars. Released at the 2014 Habanos Festival, this big ring gauge cigar is reminiscent of the old brand, but with a modern twist that appeal to many big ring gauges aficionados. It sports a new band which reads “Serie Le Hoyo” but as any Hoyo de Monterrey, it is hand rolled only using tobacco from San Juan y Martínez district, where the brand was born in 1865. The Sancho Panza Non Plus is a delightful and creamy medium bodied Petit Corona, 5.1” (129mm) long, of 42 ring gauge, and comes in a 25 cigars box. It is somewhat close to a Vegas Robaina Familiar in taste. It presents a nice mix of flavors in the palate, such as earth, wood, peat, leather (quite salty and dank flavors), but there is also some sweetness of cocoa, vanilla, chocolate and some fruity notes of raisin, and hints of oatmeal. For such an attractive price, it would be a miss not to try this Habanos. It can be a bit young and powerful, but overtime, after 2 or 3 years of ageing, the flavors will be magnified. The Partagas Seleccion Privada 2014 is a rich medium-full bodied Double Robusto, 6.3” (160mm) long, of 50 ring gauge, and comes in a box of 10 cigars. This new release comes with a Seleccion Privada golden ribbon wrapped around the 10 cigars and a Limited Edition 2014 band around each cigar. It is reminiscent of the Partagas Serie D No.4, maybe a bit stronger than it; a true full body cigar. The tobacco used is from the Vuelta Abajo and is aged at least two years. It is a beautiful cigar, with a flawless construction, perfect draw and a sharp burn line throughout the whole cigar. There is a lot of wood, rich coffee and a beautiful floral quality to it. There are also hints of pepper, leather, oak, cocoa and some nice fruity cake flavor. A truly delicious creamy smoke, which will become even better after 3 to 5 years of ageing. Más información -
